Martin D-45 Mike Longworth #66 of 91 2005 - Mint
2005 Martin D-45 Mike Longworth #66 of 91. This guitar was just bought from a large collection of guitars that were mostly unused. If you walked into a guitar shop today and saw this on the wall it would pass as new. And it comes with the original receipt from Gruhn in 2008. Just got a fresh setup and it plays and sounds amazing.
A limited-edition model commemorating one of Martin’s most influential employees, Mike Longworth. In 1968 Mike had Martin bring back the legendary D-45 after not being in production since World War II. Mike was famous for his pearl inlays which he also made for the banjo community. HIs respect for pre-war D-45’s was profound.
These were limited to 91 guitars just like the original pre-war D-45’s. Features include an Adirondack Spruce top, premium East Indian rosewood back and sides, forward forward-shifted scalloped top bracing, just like pre-war Martins. Also has a 30’s style bridge and saddle, grained ivoroid binding, snowflake inlays, and lots of abalone pearl. The interior label is signed by CF Martin IV and Mike’s widow Sue Longworth. A collectible from the day they were produced. Will not find a nicer one.
Comes with the original case.
