Straight from the original owners family comes this 1956 Martin D-28. The original owner was James Cook of upstate New York who owned both this and the 1957 Martin 000-18 (see other listing). His daughter Penny took to playing guitar and he eventually gifted this 000-18 to her. The two of them went on to play small gigs and family functions/barbecues together. Included are a dozen or so family photos and James and Penny playing the guitars. I bought both guitars together from Penny.
The D-28 is in excellent shape. There is the typical pick guard crack that was repaired. Neck looks to have had a reset and after its recent pro setup, is playing great. There were Schaller tuners on it when I bought, I had the 6 small holes on the back nicely plugged and installed correct style repro tuners with conversion bushings. Comes with the original hard case with a busted handle.
I would really like to sell both guitars to the next owner to keep them together. Please see other listing and we can discuss pricing for both.
