1956 Fender Stratocaster - 2 Tone Sunburst Body Only Refin - OHSC
1956 Fender Stratocaster. I am the second owner of this guitar. When I received this guitar, the body was refinished in a not so nice blue spray paint with a crack along the body. The original owner was playing a gig in Cleveland when a biker charged the stage. He used the strat in self-defense and connected causing the crack in the body and possible the man. He crudely glued the crack and painted it and kept playing it. The owner clearly loved this guitar and played the hell out of it judging by the fretboard wear. Probably the most worn maple fretboard I have ever seen.
So I sent the guitar to Cris Mirabella to correctly fix the body crack and return it to a proper nitro 2 - Tone Sunburst. I am not one who particularly loves aging guitars so I only had him lightly age it. You can certainly have it aged more to match the neck if you'd like. I also had the neck refretted as the original frets were completely worn down. All three pickups were dead when received and Tom Brantley rewound them in place. The original pickguard and pickup covers had several cracks and are unusable, so I ordered great looking repros and will include the originals. The only other modifications are the pickguard and pickup screws are repro, knobs repro, the middle pot and cap are from 1961, the strap buttons repro, and there are two screw holes under the pickguard (the owner attempted to fix the pickguard because it was cracking so much).
This guitar plays and sounds great. The neck is an absolute joy to hold as its worn in all the right places. The original tuners work as they should. One of the first alder bodies as I have seen both ash and alder 56 bodies dated in this month.
Comes with the original tweed case that is in rough shape but functional.
