1954/59 Fender Stratocaster. There is a lot to explain here so please read on if interested. This started life as a 1954 Strat (12/54 Body date still present) and 3 original 54 pickups are still present. Likely in 1959 or early 1960 this at it was "updated". I don't believe it was factory, likely a local store ordered the new parts for the owner or someone had a '59 strat and they decided to combine them. Everything besides the body and pickups date to 1959/early 60 (undated slab neck, tuners, pickguard, plastics, pots). It has a mix of 54 and 59/60 saddles. It was also refinished, the neck has a little overspray, but retains its original decal. The pole pieces were flattened on the pickups (just pushed in slightly, I don't want to attempt to undo this). The pickups appear to have original winds. It was refretted very nicely recently. Mysteriously, there is "JH 69" in the body and "JH" under the neck plate. This guitar did come from a pro musician that was located in Seattle in the late 60's and early 70's. And I have heard of Hendrix carving initials on the inside of his gear (or his techs doing it), but I have not found any actual connection to him and I am not adding any value to the guitar for this. Just a fun little anecdote.
The guitar was just pro setup and plays and sounds great. The 1 piece ash body is gorgeous and the very old refin is a great job. Comes with a non original newer case. This guitar has a write up about it in VG from its previous owner and I will include a copy of that.
