1953 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop. This is a very late '53 with all the good '54 features (wrap around tailpiece and correct neck angle). This is a killer playing and sounding goldtop. The guitar was just professionally refretted with period sized wire, so its playing great. I added a non-invasive wood shim to the bridge pickup to help balance the pickups. It currently has an intonating bridge installed, but I have the original bridge and studs. The bridge does have a little bit of the common forward lean. The reason this isn't over $50k is because at some point there were other pickups installed. The original pickups are back in. They did NOT widen the routes so they were P90 sized length and width, but the bottom of the route was deepened slightly with a chisel. Newer gold paint was added to the chiseled portions. Both volume pots are replaced. The rest of the finish is completely original. Weight is 8.4 lbs. Comes in an original brown/pink 50's Gibson case.
