This guitar is all original with the exception of the truss rod cover, bridge (mid 60s replacement), frets (done expertly), and added strap button on the upper horn that has been filled. It plays great up and down the neck with its thinner\/fast typical 61 neck. The finish is in excellent+ shape with only minor back of the neck wear and very few, if any scratches. Cherry \"dot necks\" are not that easy to find. I currently have another one listed; get a $2k discount for a bridge and a strap button essentially. This guitar had a neck reset a long time ago, at this time the repair person decided it needed 3 screws in the back (for what real reason, I have no idea). The good news is that the neck was actually set perfectly. My luthier confirmed the screws served absolutely no structural purpose and he removed, plugged and just finished over this area expertly. It’s possible there was a heel repair that necessitated the original neck reset but the finish has now been touch up twice on the heel and it’s hard to tell (it’s priced like there is anyway). Other than this, the guitar is 100% original including the factory small frets, that still play well. This guitar sounds excellent and has a real clear chime to it when not pushing an amp too hard. A great year for the 335! The neck starts to get a little chunkier again and the pickups are still first gen Pat No's (same as last version of PAFs). This guitar has been completely oversprayed (neck a little heavier than the body). I see no evidence of a neck break (there's some finish checking in the area, but nothing that appears to be a break or repair). The good news? Original: pickups, bridge, tailpiece, Harness (except one pot), pickguard, and knobs. The only replaced parts are 1 pot, saddles, and tuners (later 65 ish). The bridge posts holes were moved slightly, there was a bigsby, and one added strap button on the upper horn. It has been refretted and the frets are in excellent shape. A great playing a sounding example. I've had several 60s 330's and this was my favorite. Just saving for something else. I had it expertly refretted with original size fret wire and a bone nut installed (original nut included). Two of the knobs are not original (just the knobs), and there was a strap button filled (see photos). All else is original including the electronics. The Bigsby is likely when new dealer added, as it is period correct and clearly been on for a very long time. Pretty common on 330s and very much an upgrade over the stock tailpiece. The Bigsby gives it some nice balance and better string tension than the trapeze, plus added Bigsby sounds on a hollow body. I added a spacer to the bridge pickup to bring it closer to the strings and balance it with the neck pickup (completely non-invasive and necessary on almost all 330s). I have the original pick guard, just forgot to put it on for the photos. The tuners are period correct double line Klusons, normally these have small round tuner buttons, but these are the 335 style tuners. I believe they're original (and an upgrade over what's normally found).
