This guitar had a neck reset a long time ago, at this time the repair person decided it needed 3 screws in the back (for what real reason, I have no idea). The good news is that the neck was actually set perfectly. My luthier confirmed the screws served absolutely no structural purpose and he removed, plugged and just finished over this area expertly. It’s possible there was a heel repair that necessitated the original neck reset but the finish has now been touch up twice on the heel and it’s hard to tell (it’s priced like there is anyway). Other than this, the guitar is 100% original including the factory small frets, that still play well. This guitar sounds excellent and has a real clear chime to it when not pushing an amp too hard. I have info from the original owners that are adamant they have never had a repair done to this guitar. I tend to believe this was either done by Gibson after finishing the guitar, or done by the original shop that sold it to its original owners (and didn't disclose). After all, this was a new design at the time and Gibson was still working out the kinks. These are very prone to heel breaks, but this has never had a heel or neck break. I had it expertly refretted with original size fret wire and a bone nut installed (original nut included). Two of the knobs are not original (just the knobs), and there was a strap button filled (see photos). All else is original including the electronics. The Bigsby is likely when new dealer added, as it is period correct and clearly been on for a very long time. Pretty common on 330s and very much an upgrade over the stock tailpiece. The Bigsby gives it some nice balance and better string tension than the trapeze, plus added Bigsby sounds on a hollow body. I added a spacer to the bridge pickup to bring it closer to the strings and balance it with the neck pickup (completely non-invasive and necessary on almost all 330s). I have the original pick guard, just forgot to put it on for the photos.
